The Jackson-Madison County School System hosted the historical ground breaking of the Hub City Center football stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
The stadium will be on the Lane Ave. side of Oman Arena, facing N Royal St and will seat 2,200 people. The space will have a turf field, eight lanes of regulation track, visitor and home locker rooms, concession stands, a press box and a jumbotron scoreboard.
Under the umbrella of the CommUNITY Project, the football stadium at Oman Arena is set to be a focal point, reflecting the district’s dedication to fostering excellence in athletics.
Oman Arena will transform into Hub City Center, with the JMCSS logo being put on top of the building and new storefront glass and windows being installed.
Mayor Scott Conger worked closely with the school system on this project, gifting Oman Arena and contributing $3 million to support initiatives beyond the facilities.
“Investing in education is an investment in our community’s future,” said Conger. “The CommUNITY Project not only enhances our schools but also contributes to the overall well-being and growth of Jackson. I am proud to be a part of this transformative initiative.”
Crocker Construction, Kimley Horn, LRK, OGCB Inc. and Chad Stewart & Associates serve as the team collaborating on the project.
