JACKSON, Tennessee – Jackson Christian School, a private, Christian-based college preparatory school located in Jackson, Tenn., is pleased to announce senior student-athlete Maggie Richardson signed to play collegiate softball at Mississippi College on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Richardson plans to graduate from Jackson Christian in the spring of 2024 and begin her collegiate career at Mississippi College in the fall of 2024.
She enters her final season at Jackson Christian with a record of 69-23, 531 innings pitched, and has recorded 534 strikeouts.
“It has been a joy to watch Maggie grow on and off the softball field the past seven years,” said head coach Jennifer Wheeler. “She is fulfilling her goal of playing collegiate softball, and she has been a tremendous piece of our program developing into a top team in the state the past three years.”
Richardson was named to the TSSAA All District team in 2021 and 2023, All District Pitcher of the Year 2022, and All Region team in 2021-2023. Richardson is the daughter of Sheri and Allen Richardson.

Jackson Christian head softball coach Jennifer Wheeler named female Coach of the Year by TSSAA
JACKSON, Tennessee – Jackson Christian School, a private, Christian-based college preparatory school located in Jackson, Tenn., is pleased to announce head middle and high school coach Jennifer Wheeler as the 2022-2023 District 7 Female Coach of the Year by the TSSAA.
The award was presented when the TSSAA held its Regional Meeting at Liberty High School, Wednesday.
The award is given in recognition of the ideals of ethics and integrity in the teaching and promotion of citizenship and sportsmanship.
Wheeler is in her 11th year of coaching at Jackson Christian and has led the Lady Eagles to four state tournament appearances. Six of her athletes have signed to play collegiate softball upon graduation from Jackson Christian.
“Coach Wheeler has been a tremendous asset to our school and our softball program for over a decade,” said Athletic Director Darby Palmer. “She leads and builds our players on the field but also in their lives. They leave her field with much more than a winning record.”
Female coach of the year is determined by the citizenship/sportsmanship committee in each athletic district and by the state selection committee. The awards are named the A.F. Bridges Award in honor of the TSSAA’s first executive secretary.
Jackson Christian Theatre announces ‘The Lightning Thief’ as fall 2023 production
JACKSON, Tennessee – Jackson Christian School theater program is proud to announce “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” as their fall 2023 production and will perform Thursday, Nov. 9, to Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Jackson Christian chorus room.
“The Lightning Thief” is a light-hearted fantasy about a modern 12-year-old boy who learns that his true father is Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. Percy sets out to become a hero by undertaking a quest across the United States to find the entrance to the Underworld and stop a war between the gods.
“‘The Lightning Thief’ has never been performed in the Hub City until today,” Director Braden Miller said. “We are using age-appropriate actors to fill the roles of these characters, and we think you’ll enjoy our performance.”
