Dwight Hawks, well-known Humboldt attorney, retires

HUMBOLDT, TN – After 57 years of serving the legal needs of Humboldt and West Tennessee, Dwight Hawks has announced his retirement.

Born in Humboldt, Hawks was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1966.

According to a press release from Stephanie Traylor – Marketing & Research Strategist Younger Associates – Dwight Hawks became barred in the Tennessee State Court in 1966 and in the Federal Courts of the United States in 1990, allowing him to represent clients at both the state and federal levels.

He served as City Judge for Humboldt, Tennessee from 1974 to 1984 and as City Attorney for Humboldt from 1994 to 2014.

“It has been a privilege to serve the people of West Tennessee,” Hawks said, “I am humbled and grateful to have had the opportunity to practice law for 57 years in the community that I love.”

Hawks received his undergraduate degree from Union University and his J.D. in 1966 from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in Memphis, Tennessee.

He is a member of the Gibson County and Tennessee Bar Associations and is a Master of the Bench member of the Lowell Edmunds Jackson American Inn of Courts as well as a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.

He also served on the staff of the Memphis State Law Review from 1965 to 1966.

The Law Offices of Dwight Hawks and Christopher McKnight wish to extend sincere thanks to every client and supporter over the decades during this time of transition.

Partner Christopher McKnight and current staff will remain in place until the end of the year.
