While there are numerous ways to describe the play of Cameron Clark, a senior linebacker and fullback for the South Gibson County Hornets, consistency would be at or near the top of the list.

Cameron, who earned the Victory Honda of Jackson, NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, WNWS.COM, high school football ‘Player of the Week’ award following a 35-28 win over Chester County, Friday, Sept. 22, took control of the game with six tackles (31 for the season), two for a loss, two quarterback sacks (two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries (10 for the season), and recovered one fumble.

Cameron, who has committed to play at Ole Miss, will graduate from South Gibson County High School in December.

“I want to thank Victory Honda and NEWS/TALK for this award,” Cameron said, “I’m just blessed to be a senior leader for this team,” Cameron said, “Last week we had a hard-fought victory against Chester County which was a tough team, and we were just able to pull (win) out.

“I’m blessed my team trusts me and believes in me to go out and make plays and (coaches) put me in the best position possible every Friday night.”

“Cam is a great player, a great person, who brings a lot of leadership to our football team … the kids really rally behind him,” said Ben Johnson, South Gibson County’s head football coach, “Offensively, he is a big factor for us in the blocking game as a fullback and tight end … defensively he is a fantastic outside linebacker (who) can really shut down one side of the field – he does a great job for us there.

“We’re just blessed to have him on our football team, and we’ll continue to use him with his ability to move forward throughout the year.

“Cameron is a beast of a football player.”
