Brings collegiate level playing and coaching experience to the role

JACKSON, TENNESSEE – Jackson State Community College (JSCC) has selected Bethany Barcroft as Head Coach for Green Jays Softball. Barcroft, a former JSCC student-athlete, comes to the team from South Arkansas Community College (SACC) where she was both the Head Softball Coach and Athletic Academic Advisor. She was the first head coach for the program, building it from the ground up.

According to a press release from Henry Kilpatrick – public relations & marketing coordinator at JSCC – in her roles at SACC, Barcroft was responsible for recruiting student-athletes, developing collegiate softball programs, managing the team budget, and counseling student-athletes regarding their mental well-being and academic goals. For the past year, Bethany has also served as the Head Coach for Sticks Softball, an Arkansas 16U Travel-Ball organization where she has worked to mentor athletes to compete at the collegiate level.

Barcroft brings a wealth of recruitment knowledge to the team, maintaining many contacts in West Tennessee and beyond as a player at JSCC and from her time as Assistant Coach during the 2021 season.

We’re excited to see this team soar to new heights under Coach Barcroft as we build this program to compete at the championship level that I know we’re capable of,” said Steve Cornelison, JSCC’s director of athletics, “Coach Barcroft’s work at South Arkansas is a testament to the caliber of coach she is.

“That experience paired with her area knowledge will play a vital role in the future of this program. I’m honored to name her as the new head coach and excited to see what the future holds under her leadership.”

Barcroft began her collegiate athletic career at JSCC as a catcher for the Green Jays before playing at Hiwassee College in Madisonville where she was team captain. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Social Science from Hiwassee College in Madisonville, and a Master of Arts in Human Services, Lifespan Development from Bryan College in Dayton.
