JACKSON, TENNESSEE – Jackson fell to the Cape Catfish 4-2, before 1,441 at The Ballpark at Jackson on ‘Throwback Thursday Night.’
South Side graduate Tyler Smith allowed two runs in five innings of work while striking out five. Roman Smith threw two scoreless innings in relief, but Jamal Allen, who worked the eighth and ninth inning, absorbed the loss.
The Rockabillys (1-2, second half of season) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when third baseman Carter Vrabel singled in the bottom of the first to score leftfielder Luke Lowery.
Jackson would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth when Griffin Cameron scored while Cape (2-2) was turning a double play, but a pair of runs by the Catfish in the top of ninth provided the final margin.
The Rockabillys open a two-game set with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, Friday, July 7, at The Ballpark at Jackson, and afterwards, fans can stay to enjoy Friday Night Fireworks.
On Saturday, July 8, Jackson and Springfield wrap up the series, and Vintage Band will perform after the game as the third Extra Innings Band of the season.
