Here are some updates for previous articles.

In honor of legendary law enforcement officer Robert Lee’s years of teaching Criminal Justice
for UT Martin and a life dedicated to service in his chosen field of law enforcement, a Criminal
Justice Scholarship has been created.

“The Cult Mom,” Lori Vallow Daybell, was convicted on May 12 on all charges in her Idaho trial.

She was accused of the First Degree Murder of her children, who were six and seven years old
at the time of their death. She was also charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the
death of her husband’s former wife. She is scheduled for sentencing in August and faces life in
prison. The judge removed the death sentence as a possibility. She still faces other charges.

After hearing all the evidence, a juror said, “ he could put a face on evil.”

On March 31, 2023, Jeff Young, a nurse practitioner from Jackson, Tennessee, was found guilty
in U.S. District Court in Memphis on 13 counts involving conspiracy to distribute controlled
substances. The trial resulted from a 2019 multi-state federal investigation into the distribution
of opioids.

Young, locally known as the “Rock Doc,” is scheduled to be sentenced on August 3, 2023.
