First steel goes up at BlueOval City TCAT
The first steel is going up at BlueOval City Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, located in the Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County, approximately 45 miles west of Jackson.
To prepare individuals for new jobs at BlueOval City, Ford introduced BlueOval Learning to empower future workers to build an EV future in America.
This talent development program will strengthen skills, provide teacher support and increase work-based learning experiences.
Among the key elements is the BlueOval TCAT: A state-of-the-art training center, a $40 million investment by the State of Tennessee and created with the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, that will serve as a hub for education resources and best-in-class training programs.
In September 2021, Ford announced the $5.6 billion project to build electric F-Series pickups at the 3,600-acre parcel of land – the Memphis Regional Megasite.
BlueOval City, is a joint venture with SK Innovation, which will build battery factories at the Tennessee site and in Glendale, Kentucky.
In West Tennessee, the project is predicted to boost the economies of several counties. Ford plans to employ about 6.000 workers at the plant, while construction of the factory and the arrival of Ford suppliers will create thousands more jobs.
Greater Jackson Chamber opens nominations for Leadership Jackson Class of 2023
Jackson, TENNESSEE – The Greater Jackson Chamber is now accepting nominations for the Leadership Jackson 2023 class. This adult leadership program is aimed at empowering business professionals to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Jackson-Madison County community and its opportunities and challenges.
Leadership Jackson offers an immersive three-month program that allows participants to explore Jackson, engage with influential leaders and take part in weekly sessions delving into critical topics affecting Jackson-Madison County.
Applicants can fill out a nomination form online at LeadershipJackson.com or at the 2023 Leadership Jackson Nomination form link. Applicants must be a Greater Jackson Chamber member, and a leader in their company or organization should nominate them.
They can nominate themselves if they are the primary decision maker. Due to class size, members must limit their nominations to one per chamber member.
The 2023 class will be led by Leadership Jackson Chair Margaret Livingston, University School of Jackson and Vice Chair Kris Kelley, Jackson Area Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency – JACOA.
The comprehensive curriculum of Leadership Jackson covers a diverse range of topics throughout the weekly sessions while also incorporating a concentration on leadership skill-building.

Darletha Woods, who works as a scheduler in Surgery Business Services at West Tennessee Healthcare, has been named the organization’s employee of the month for May.
Darletha, who has been an employee at West Tennessee Healthcare for over 43 years, was presented the award by West Tennessee Healthcare vice-president Deann Thelen, and Angie Horton, Director, Perioperative & Procedural Areas, Surgery Business Services, when the Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
