At Ford’s BlueOval City Live celebration on March 24, Ford and SK On called for those in attendance to leave their mark on the project, signing a steel beam that would be erected within the plant forever.

Today, the Ford Land construction team officially installed the signed beam within the BlueOval SK battery plant on the BlueOval City mega-campus.

“Ford is so thrilled to become part of this community and to build the electric future with the people of West Tennessee,” said Ermal Faulkner, Director of BlueOval City and EV sites. “We are proud to have all those who joined us at the celebration permanently leave their mark on the BlueOval City project and we hope that many will join us to build advanced EVs and batteries at this very site in 2025.”

At the March 24 celebration, West Tennesseans joined Ford at BlueOval City to learn more about the construction progress at the six-square-mile site that will be home to Ford’s second-generation electric truck, code named Project T3, and advanced batteries to power future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles.

Nearly 700 community members, students, local stakeholders and government officials signed the 6,000 pound steel beam.

The signed beam will live within the BlueOval SK battery plant, which will begin producing advanced batteries for future Ford and Lincoln vehicles in 2025.

At Ford’s BlueOval City Live event, the company also shared plans to prepare nearly 6,000 individuals in West Tennessee for careers at BlueOval City through an all-new talent development initiative coined BlueOval Learning. Additionally, the company announced more than $20 million that has been invested into West Tennessee and the larger state since Ford announced BlueOval City in Sept. 2021. Construction remains on-track for production to begin in 2025.
