A new president/CEO and 12 resolutions highlighted the Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors monthly meeting at The Tennergy Center, Thursday.
“The JEA Board of Directors welcomed Monte Cooper as the new President and CEO at its monthly meeting today,” said Monte Jones, JEA’s chairman of the Board of Directors, “Mr. Cooper presented his first report to the board in his new role while providing updates on rates and various projects.
“The board considered and approved 12 resolutions related to equipment, rates, and services.
“A recommendation from the board to designate Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC as the audit firm was also approved.”
Resolutions authorized or approved included –
The purchase of industrial medium voltage pad-mounted switchgear for Owens Corning from the Eaton Corporation at a price of $710,323.56
The purchase of 4-feet and 6-feet polyethylene pipe for the Gas Division – G & C Supply, Inc., Atwood, submitted the low bid of $100,350
The purchase of 1,890 residential & commercial gas meters and 4,750 ITRON Encoder Receiver Transmitters (ERTs)
The installation of wastewater service on Lower Brownsville Road for Dixie Jackson – Jackson Boring and Trenching submitted the low bid of $84,000
The purchase of one dump truck for the Wastewater Division -TAG Truck Center, Jackson, submitted a bid for $159,941.11
The purchase of ERT Modules for the Water Division – United Systems, Benton, KY, submitted a bid of $134,640
The adoption of telecommunications service rate adjustments
The agreement with AON Consulting to provide actuarial and administrative services for the Jackson Energy Authority Retirement Plan and the Jackson Energy Authority Postretirement Benefit Plan
Designating a firm to audit the financial statements of the Electric, Gas, Water, Wastewater and Telecommunications Divisions
The authorization of banking services
The appointment of a new member to the Retirement Plan Administrative Committee – Ryan Porter
Adopting Juneteenth – June 19 – as an observed Jackson Energy Authority holiday – “Something we don’t very often is, we adopted a new holiday,” said Monte Cooper, president/CEO Jackson Energy Authority, “Management recommended to the board that we adopt and observe Juneteenth Holiday.
“That passed unanimously, and we will start observing that this June.”
