Sculley’s Golf Club & Driving Range set to reopen in mid-March

Sculley’s Golf Club & Driving Range, which closed due to the passing of owner Dart Longeway in November 2022 – is set to reopen in mid-March.

A lease has been executed that will reopen the course, which became the first public golf course in Jackson in 1950.

The new owner could not be reached for comment.

The husband and wife team of Tom and Ginny Sculley built, co-owned, operated and opened the course at 2162 Westover Road.

In December 1999, Mrs. Sculley, now deceased, signed a lease-purchase agreement with Dart Longeway, who managed the golf course for the last 23 years.

The property is still owned by Mrs. Sculley’s Trust Fund.

When the nine-hole course opened, the layout was called Skyway Public Golf Course and Driving Range.

Skyway was also the original name of Jackson’s airport, located next door.
