JACKSON Tenn – A man is in custody after police say he attacked his ex-girlfriend with a knife in a midtown Jackson home.

Alex Lamont Hallmes Jr. was arraigned Wednesday, charged with aggravated domestic assault and domestic vandalism.

According to court documents, during an argument Hallmes pulled a knife on his ex-girlfriend, chasing her into a bedroom where he kicked in the door to gain access to her.

Police say she was able to escape out the back door to call for help.

Alex Lamont Hallmes Jr. is being held in the Madison County Jail
