
Former Tenn. House Republican Caucus Chair Boyer dead at 76
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former Tennessee House Republican Caucus Chairman James F. Boyer, of Corryton, has died.
An obituary in the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1LnR9kd) says Boyer died Thursday at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was 76.
Boyer was elected to House District 19 in 1992 and served until 2002, when he did not seek re-election.
Boyer was a land surveyor and at one point served as president of the National Society of Professional Surveyors. He also was an Air Force veteran and University of Tennessee Knoxville graduate.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Boyer, three sons, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
