JACKSON, Tenn. – On October 19, 2022, Robert Roy Thompson, 35, of Corinth, MS, was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service on a federal violation warrant and a state warrant for a sex crime against a child out of Mississippi. Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee, announced today.
On August 22, 2022, the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Mississippi issued an arrest warrant for Robert Roy Thompson charging him with Violating Supervised Release Conditions.
Thompson was originally convicted in federal court for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Thompson also had an active warrant issued June 30, 2022, in Lee County, MS, for Fondling of a Child.
On the evening of October 19, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson received a request from U.S. Marshals in North Mississippi, to apprehend Thompson.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., the investigation led to Thompson’s location near a residence off Old U.S. Highway 45 South in the Guys community of McNairy County.
Thompson was located and after a short pursuit and foot chase, he was safely apprehended by members of the Two Rivers Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
He was transported to the Alcorn County Jail in Corinth, MS.
