AJ Massey was sworn in as the new Mayor of Madison County during a ceremony at Englewood Baptist Church, Thursday.
Massey, who announced his candidacy for the office Dec. 29, 2021, said his platform included a goal for better schools, a thriving business environment, top-tier healthcare, a community where people feel safe and the lowest cost of living anywhere.
AJ graduated from Jackson-Central Merry High School and played college football at the University of Mississippi.
He graduated from Union University, and also received his Master of Business Administration from Union.
He has a long career in banking, having worked most recently at the Bank of Jackson. AJ is vested in the Jackson and Madison County communities, serving as a current Jackson-Madison County School Board Member, a position which he has held since 2018.
He is a Leadership Jackson Class of 2009 graduate and has served on the board of directors for Madison County CASA, is a past member of the Jackson Exchange Club, and currently serves on the board of The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson.
