The Jackson Chamber is pleased to announce the nominees selected for its 2022 Leadership Jackson class. Leadership Jackson is a leadership development program for community members who demonstrate leadership potential.
Sponsored by the Jackson Chamber, the program is an opportunity for local professionals to learn more about the community and the challenges it faces.
The class will participate in a full-day information session in early September to get acquainted and find out more about what their Leadership Jackson experience will entail. Leadership Jackson, class of 2022, will be led by Chair David Knack and Vice-Chair Margaret Livingston, Middle School Director, University School of Jackson.
“Leadership Jackson is an outstanding program that guides participants through a 13-week process of self-discovery, personal/professional growth and creates deep awareness of the strengths and challenges of our community and region,” Knack said, “I could not be more excited for this group of participants and the opportunity they have to build relationships and invest in their community. We have been working to develop a top-tier program for them, and I’m honored to be a part of their journey.”
Class members will meet weekly for sessions on various topics. A leadership skill-building component is incorporated into each session. Leaders in key areas, such as health care, criminal justice, economic development, quality of life, education and government will share an overview of the present state, challenges and future vision.
This information provides the class with a broad understanding of the inner-workings of Jackson-Madison County and a big-picture view. It also engages them in a self-analysis of where they can best make a positive impact by getting involved or by being a resource for their company or sphere of influence.
“Leadership Jackson provides individuals with the unique opportunity to improve and grow through community outreach, self-reflection and leadership skills. At the root of Leadership Jackson is the opportunity to build relationships with others while challenging one’s personal preconceptions and assumptions about our community,” Margaret Livingstons said, “I am honored to work with each of the program participants as they discover more about themselves and gain perspective. The potential of the new class to impact Jackson and the surrounding areas for the better fills me with excitement and gratitude, and I look forward to working with the LJ class of 2022.”
