During his 25-year career in the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Byrum has served in many roles, most recently as SWAT Team Commander and head of the department’s firearms training program. While serving 15 years in the narcotics unit, Byrum investigated both street level drug crimes as well as long-term investigations of drug trafficking organizations, and rose through the ranks to lead the department’s unit.
He also served on the department’s SWAT Team for more than a decade before being promoted to commander.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, Byrum grew up in the Mercer community, and is a graduate of South Side High School and Lambuth College. He and his wife Pamela live in Jackson.
