Those who remember Jackson in the early 70’s can get a glimpse of way back when – soon.
A time capsule buried in Muse Park 50 years ago was unearthed Wednesday with a crowd spanning all ages as part of the Jackson Madison Bicentennial celebration. Some had family members who had placed items in the time capsule. Some had placed items in the capsule when they were children. Some who came today were there when the time capsule was buried.
A backhoe was used to dig up the time capsule, which is actually a burial vault that will be taken to another location to be opened. The contents will be on display at City Hall within the next few weeks.
The family of Jackson attorney Mary Jo Middlebrooks placed the concrete marker at Muse Park which included the date it was supposed to be opened.
