Collaboration to continue with outside law enforcement agencies and community following arrest of Jadan Jermaine Bills

It was collaboration between the Jackson Police Department and the U.S. Marshals that led to the arrest of Jadan Jermaine Bills, who is alleged to have killed two people after shooting inside a vehicle on North Parkway at the U.S. Highway 45 Bypass, April 29.

Bills, age 19, from Jackson, who was wanted for Two Counts of First Degree Murder, and Three Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, was apprehended in Little Rock, Arkansas, Tuesday.

Speaking during a press conference at the Jackson Police Department, Chief of Police Thom Corley said the JPD determined the identity of the suspect, located his whereabouts and obtained a warrant.

“Once we found out he was outside our jurisdiction we partnered and collaborated with the U.S. Marshals service to tap into their resources to make this apprehension as quickly as we could and it all went well – as far as that procedure,” Corley said, “(Shooting) was senseless and it did not need to happen.

“These young people are hurting and killing themselves and it should not be happening.”

On May 4, the U.S Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force based in Jackson adopted the case for a fugitive investigation.

The Task Force tracked Bills to a motel on Highway 365 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Around 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, the Task Force from Jackson traveled to Little Rock and met with a U.S. Marshals Task Force based in Little Rock.

Bills was located inside a room and was safely taken into custody. He was booked into the Pulaski County Jail and will await the extradition process back to Tennessee.

“We are going to continue to collaborate with outside agencies,” Corley said, “And we are going to collaborate with the community and that’s what we want to do.”
