From a resolution to renovation – one journey ended and another began when West Tennessee Healthcare held a ribbon cutting and open house at its North Hospital – at 367 Hospital Blvd., Tuesday.
“This is a wonderful day,” said Deann Thelen, vice president/CEO of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, “We celebrate the addition of orthopedic surgeries and subspecialty care at the North Campus of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
“We acquired this facility in June, 2018 … the facility remained open during the renovation and we continues to provide emergency services, laboratory, pharmacy, sleep clinics, sleep labs, radiology services this entire time.”
The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees approved a resolution to purchase area Tennova healthcare facilities for $67 million, March 28, 2018.
Area Tennova medical facilities also included Dyersburg, Martin and several medical clinics in West Tennessee.
Community Health Systems, which owned Tennova, announced in early 2018 it was divesting some of its hospitals.
“We held many meetings and had a lot of discussion with medical staff, employees (and) our board (of Trustees) about what we’re going to do with this facility moving forward and the decision was made to move our orthopaedic services here … a high quality, high volume service line at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital – and make it a specialized care facility for orthopaedists to practice and our patients to receive care. it’s just a great day for us and the community!,” Thelen said, “I’m really excited and thankful for our community and that they choose us for their healthcare needs.
“Jackson-Madison County General Hospital North Campus is truly a very special place.”
