The Student Award Center (SAC) celebrated its grand opening recently by awarding a Jackson student with a scholarship to a private school.

SAC, located at 41 Murray Guard Drive, is a new 501c3 that offers financial help for families seeking the best education option for their children. Local student Tania Hernandez was awarded the organization’s first scholarship, $3,000 to be used for tuition assistance at St. Mary’s School.

“Our mission is to provide the chance for families to have access to the best option when it comes to their particular child’s needs and abilities,” said SEC executive director Katie McGill.
