JACKSON, Tennessee – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 74-year-old male died Nov. 29, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 316 in Madison County.
The health department has received positive test results for 141 more cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021. We now have 18,767 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 17,984 have recovered.
Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.
“We’ve seen a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Madison County since the Thanksgiving holiday,” Regional Director Kim Tedford said. “People are gathering indoors to celebrate the holidays. Other parts of the state are also seeing an uptick in new cases. We encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask in indoor public spaces in areas of substantial or high transmission, and get tested to prevent spread to others”
