JACKSON (August 18, 2015) — A truck hauling heavy equipment passing underneath the I 40 bridge crossing over Highway 412 struck several rafters causing damage.
The bridge is open to traffic. Traffic on Hollywood Drive Hwy 412 is back open after being down to one lane for several hours.
TDOT officials inspected the bridge and say the damage is cosmetic. The trucks load came in contact with the bridge in 5 places on rafters on the underside.
According to THP a truck carrying a backhoe was traveling eastbound on Highway 412 when the equipment struck the bottom of the bridge, knocking off concrete, exposing rebar and damaging the Country Club Lane sign.
The truck was stopped in Crockett County. Crockett County Sheriff’s deputies believe the driver also is responsible for pulling down power lines in that county.
