City leases train depot to theCO for Soul Collective
Jackson, Tenn. – The City of Jackson has announced a partnership with theCO to lease the Train Depot (formerly the N.C. & St. Louis Depot and Railroad Museum) for the SOUL Collaborative program.
The Museum was closed in Spring 2020 as a result of budget constraints and operational changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Memorabilia from the Train Depot Museum has been transferred to the Casey Jones Museum for continued access and enjoyment by the public.
The lease was approved by City Council on November 2, 2021, and by theCO’s board on November 9, 2021.
The lease is $1 per year and will be paid by theCO. The utilities will be paid by the City for the first year.
The lease agreement is for three years with theCO taking responsibility in year two and three.
Hotel, single & multi-tenant buildings, convenience store scheduled for Dr. F.E. Wright Drive at Ridgecrest Road
A preliminary development plan has been approved for a multi-use commercial development on the corner of Dr. F.E. Wright Drive and Ridgecrest Road.
Developments on the approximate 10.91 acres are scheduled to include a hotel, a single-tenant building, multi-tenant building and a convenience store.
A former home of Toys R US, 2159 North Highland Ave., has been sold for the second time since July.
AutoZone purchases former home of Toys R Us for $1.2 million +
AutoZone Development LLC purchased the facility from GW Jackson TRU LTD for $1,250,000.
Officials with AutoZone could not be reached for comment.
AutoZone Auto Parts has three retail stores in Jackson – 2090 North Highland Avenue, 766 Vann Drive and 1742 South Highland Avenue.
Located in Hickory Village Shopping Center, GW Jackson TRU LTD purchased the 29,754-square-foot facility from TUR 2005 RE I LLC for $900,000 four months earlier.
Toys R Us, which had about 740 retail stores in the United States, closed its Jackson location in June 2018.
American Freight Furniture & Mattress, 2151 North Highland Avenue, is the only tenant in the shopping center.
American Freight, which opened in February 2019, occupies 30,600-square-feet located in the former home of an Office Depot.
Physicians Surgery Center No. 1 in Tennessee on America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Center List for 2022
Physicians Surgery Center in Jackson is being recognized as one of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) and the No. 1 Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tennessee by Newsweek Magazine and Statista for 2022.
America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2022 highlights the nation’s top ambulatory surgery centers based on quality of care, performance data, and peer recommendations, Newsweek said as it listed the top centers on its website.
“Working with data research firm Statista, we analyzed ambulatory surgical center performance data,” Newsweek said. “As part of the research, we conducted a survey of experts, asking nurses, therapists, physicians and surgeons, and administrators in ASCs for the best surgery centers in their state or a state they’re familiar with.
“We also invited them to assess how well the ASC in question has handled the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis.”
The research project analyzed more than 4,600 ambulatory surgery centers in the 25 states with the most ASCs. The list spotlights only 470 of those facilities.
Slim Chickens opens Jackson location
Slim Chickens, 6 Channing Way, has opened.
Business hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week for the lobby, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the drive thru.
The Jackson restaurant hopes to hire between 120 and 150 people.
The Jackson location is one of 10 scheduled to open in Tennessee.
