The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees approved two resolutions during their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Replace Cardiac Catheterization Labs
A resolution to authorize James Ross, WTH president/CEO to contract on behalf of the District and take all other steps necessary to make the construction improvement as described at a cost of $1,020,738 of budgeted District funds.
Purchase a Neurosurgical system
Neurosurgeons are highly trained physicians who use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat disorders of the brain, spine, and central and peripheral nervous system, including congenital abnormalities, trauma, tumors, degenerative diseases of the spine, conditions caused by stroke, and other complex conditions.
As part of its expanding coverage of neurosurgery, the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital District has engaged two new neurosurgeons to provided services to the patients served by the District; and with physician assistance, Jackson- Madison County General Hospital has chosen to acquire the following equipment:
a. Pentero Microscope to enable the neurosurgeon to navigate through delicate spinal procedures, such as neck and back fusion, and brain tumor biopsy, removal, and drain placement, as well as the placement of leads for deep brain stimulation;
b. Mizuho Pro-Axis Table, the most advanced surgical table for spine surgery
c. Clarity Console, which is the next generation in ultrasonic tissue ablation
d. Vertek Biopsy Kit to precisely access legions and navigate the biopsy needle
e. additional deep brain stimulation equipment to help Parkinson and other patients with
mobility and tremor control.
Management approved the purchase of the above listed equipment to enhance the District’s neurosciences service at a cost of $ 1,882,833, plus three year service contracts for each piece of equipment at a cost of $252,057.51.
