‘Friends of Heart’ presents AED to Medina Middle School

‘Friends of Heart,’ a fund of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation donated a lifesaving AED to Medina Middle School, Tuesday.

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are used to help people who are experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, by delivering electrical shocks to re-establish the heart’s rhythm. AEDs are the only way to restore a regular heart rhythm to victims of sudden cardiac arrest, and quick deployment of an AED often makes the difference when a life is on the line.

Heath Moore, Medina Middle School football coach, alongside Lane Collins Principal accepted the AED from Tracy Case Executive Director of Friends of Heart a local non-profit.

The AED will provide peace of mind knowing they have this life-saving equipment on the sidelines of sporting events.

Medina Middle School has approximately 200 student athletes which makes for a large attendance at sporting events.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death among student athletes and Medina Middle School is being proactive in their attempt to make the sporting events a safer environment for all that attend.

Friends of Heart with Jackson Fire offers Free hands only CPR/AED training. To Learn more visit friends of Heart Facebook page or contact Tracy Case at 731-343-3330.
