JACKSON, Tennessee – The Union University baseball team earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2021 season.
According to a press release from  Steven Aldridge, Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication at Union University – the ABCA recognized over 580-member college and high school programs from across the country with the 2020-21 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year’s award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2020-21 academic year.
Over 200 high school programs and more than 380 collegiate programs were recognized with this year’s award.
Union baseball is currently working through fall practices and scrimmages as they prepare for the 2022 spring season. Union has fall scrimmages set for Oct. 8 (Jackson State at 5 p.m.) and 19 (Dyersburg State at 4 p.m.), both at home. Union opens the 2022 season February 4 in Georgia.
