‘Please, get vaccinated’ – COVID-19 concerns growing daily

In a resolution released, Wednesday, medical experts and personnel in the area serviced by the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department and West Tennessee Healthcare support the use of social distancing and face covering and masks to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“We’re trying to show a united front and recommend that the community assist us in helping during this pandemic,” said Kim Tedford, regional director, Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department, “In the resolution, we have encouraged citizens to maintain social distancing of at least six-feet from others … please avoid large crowds, and being in poorly ventilated indoor spaces, and when you do, please wear a mask and wash your hands often.”

But – “Please, get vaccinated.”

It’s as if those in the medical field are running in place, considering Tedford said over 100 people continue to be vaccinated daily while more than 100 cases of COVID-19 are being reported at the same time.

“A positive case rate sits at about 23.7 percent in Jackson-Madison County,” Tedford said, “That’s the highest I remember us being at any point during this pandemic.”

Tedford, who made her comments during a weekly media briefing, said for anyone who tests positive, please remember to isolate for at least 10 days.

“Isolation and quarantine are in place to help reduce the spread,” Tedford said, “We have community-wide spread transmission of this virus right now.”
