Tennessee offensive lineman James Parsons is transferring to Gardner-Webb University, a member of the Big South Conference which competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
According to yahoo!sports, the 6-foot-5, 320-pound redshirt sophomore, who entered the NCAA transfer portal June 7, announced his decision on Twitter.
“First, I would like to say thank you to the coaches I’ve had here at the University of Tennessee for helping me grow as a player and as a person,” Parsons said. “Thanks to everyone I’ve played with these last two years, I enjoyed working with all of you.
“Secondly, thank you to my friends, family, and academic staff, I wish you all the best moving forward. With that being said, I have officially entered my name in the NCAA transfer portal.”
Parsons announced his transfer destination on Tuesday. He will play for Gardner-Webb and head coach Tre Lamb.
