Jackson Energy Authority Board of Directors approve 16 resolutions during monthly meeting

The Board of Directors approved 16 resolutions during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Wednesday.

“The JEA Board reviewed and approved several business items that will have positive impacts on the system,” Monte Jones said, “The board also approved the 2022 fiscal budget with no increase to base utility rates.

“JEA continues to provide reliable services in our community and the board is very proud of all the staff for the dedication and commitment to serving their clients.”

Monte Jones is the chairman of the board of directors at Jackson Energy Authority.

The directors approved or authorized resolutions for –

  • Purchase of distribution transformers.
  • A contract for the purchase of weathered steel transmission poles. –
  • A professional services agreement with Black & Veatch Corporation for the South Fork (SF) Wastewater Interceptor Rehab Project.
  • The purchase of one new sewer cleaner Vactor 2100I truck for the Wastewater Division.
  • The sale of JEA surplus property on Liberty and Church Street.
  • The sale of JEA surplus property on Wiley Parker Road.
  • Authorized Cityworks software licensing and support from Azteca Systems, LLC.
  • Authorized the renewal of a Technical Support Agreement with the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga.
  • Authorized the President (Jim Ferrell) to execute a Video Headend Management Agreement with Schurz Communications, Inc.
  • Resolution establishing Board approved rated for Headend Management Services provided by the Telecommunications Division.
  • Resolution authorizing the Telecommunications Division to increase Harmonic, Inc., VOS SaaS services in an amount not to exceed $6 million.
  • Resolution authorizing the Telecommunications Division to compensate Referral Partners for Headend Management Services sales.
  • Resolution authorizing the purchase of wholesale Internet and data center connectivity.
  • Resolution authorizing a second amendment to the Jackson Energy Authority Retirement Plan.
    The Jackson Energy Authority Retirement Plan was established April 1, 1963.

The amendment eliminates the cost-of-living adjustment of the retirement benefit payable to a participant who terminates employment or retires before normal retirement age of 65.

“JEA board voted to make adjustments to the employee retirement plan this month,” Jim Ferrell said, “These adjustments were to preserve the financial integrity of the retirement system for the employees and retirees.”

  • Resolution authorizing the first amendment to the Jackson Energy Authority Matching Contribution Plan.
  • Resolution adopting the fiscal year 2022 budgets.
