Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee was honored by the General Assembly of the state of Tennessee with a resolution that recognized the company and its team members for the great accomplishments and contributions to the community at its Jackson facilty in the Airport Industrial Park, Monday.
“I could not be more excited and pleased today, that state representatives Johnny Shaw (D-Hardeman County, Madison County) and Chris Todd (R-Madison County) and state senator Ed Jackson (R-Jackson) were here to bestow upon us a resolution recognizing our company and our team members for the great accomplishments and contributions to our community,” said Wes Woods, “It’s really exciting to see this and receive that on behalf of all of our team members.”
Wes Woods is the president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee, which employees about 350 people.
“Our team members in Jackson manufacture engine blocks for every single Toyota and Lexus manufactured in North America,” Woods said, “Not only with that, they manufacture transmission cases and housing for many of the models built here in North America.”
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee produces 4-cylinder engine blocks for Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and V6 engine blocks for, Camry Highlander, Sienna, the Tacoma pickup and the Lexus ES and Lexus RX, and the V8 engine block for Sequoia SUV and Tundra truck.
Woods said it’s not just what team members accomplish during the day, but it’s also what team members are doing in the community.
“This last year, throughout COVID, many of our team members have volunteered in the community making face masks, making face shields and volunteering helping people in the community throughout this pandemic – and I could not be more proud of them.
“One such team member – Jeremy Hopkins – was acturally recognized by (Tennessee) Senator (Marsha) Blackburn on the Senate Floor last May for his contributions making face shields, and could not be more proud of him as well.”
