Coco’s restaurant officially opens downtown following ribbon cutting

Coco’s, a new restaurant in downtown Jackson, officially opened at 205 East Lafayette Street, following a ribbon cutting, Friday.

The site is the former home of The Bakers Rack.

With locations in Medina – 204 North Main St. – and Martin – 1053 Old Fulton Road – Coco’s is best known for its homemade meals to go.

Coco’s also offers breakfast and hot lunch specials, daily.

Known for freshness, the restaurant has small meals that will feed a family of four and large meals that feed a family of six-to-eight.

Breakfast items include Cinnamon rolls, scones, bagels, turnovers, muffins, bacon, egg & cheese biscuit, sausage, egg & cheese biscuit, chicken biscuit and ham biscuit.

Coco’s also had coolers customers can select from. You can sit down and eat, and you can utilize Coco’s banquet room or party room.

Coco’s is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays.

Hunt’s Thrift Store opening on Rebel Road

An opening date has not been announced, but Hunt’s Thrift Store is opening a new 13,200-square-foot facility at 34 Rebel Road.

The thrift store is located behind Waffle House on South Highland Avenue.

“While we will have a variety of merchandise for sale, we will not carry large appliances or food,” said Lucian Barbu, area manager, “We work with area non profits to give back and help our communities greatly.

“We are all about being a business partner in Jackson and contributing making your shopping experience enjoyable.”

Lucian said Hunt’s Thrift is now accepting applications for all positions from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., daily.

Rodeway Inn, 2239 Hollywood Drive, sells for $2 million

For the second time since September 2018, Rodeway Inn, 2239 Hollywood Drive, has been sold.

Located near Interstate 40, Torna LLC purchased the facility from Eshanya TN Hotels for $2 million.

The sale adds to a growing list of commercial properties sold in Jackson-Madison County.

Recent sales include –

– Hill Boren Properties, 1269 North Highland Ave., sold for $525,000.

The building is located on 2.17 acres on North Highland Avenue in the Downtown Development Cooridor of the Jackson Walk Development and three blocks from West Tennessee’s Largest Medical Center, West Tennessee Healthcare.

– Clay Carlock Jr., purchased 531 Vann Drive, from Cappo Real Estate Holdings LLC etal – Jeffrey E. Cappo TR, Jeffrey E. Cappo Irrevocable Trust for $2,257,817.50.

The 18,000-square-foot facility is a former home of Victory Honda North.

Sen. Ed Jackson announces $950,000 Multimodal Access Grant for City of Jackson

State Senator Ed Jackson announced the city of Jackson will receive a $950,000 Multimodal Access Grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). The grant will fund sidewalks on SR-20 from North Parkway to Old Hickory Boulevard.

“I appreciate TDOT for recognizing the local need and congratulate our local officials who helped secure a successful grant application,” Sen. Jackson said.

TDOT’s Multimodal Access Grant is a state-funded program created to support the transportation needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users through infrastructure projects that address existing gaps along state routes. Multimodal Access Grant projects are state-funded at 95 percent with a 5 percent local match.
