Tennessee to funnel $52 million more into Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced Tuesday that the state will pour $52 million into building a complicated wastewater discharge pipeline into a sprawling site that has failed to land potential tenants due to a lack of infrastructure buildout.
The Memphis Regional Megasite, located about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of downtown Memphis, has already received more than $170 million in state funding. However, state officials have long warned that more money is needed to make the nearly 6.5 square miles (17 square kilometers) attractive enough for prospective investors.
Officials say construction on the wastewater pipeline project likely won’t start until next year.
Lee’s administration had commissioned an independent review of the megasite. The report, released Tuesday, found that along with a lack of utility service, a lack of available workforce and a low quality of life have also hindered securing a tenant.
Construction continues on ‘Slim Chickens,’ a new restaurant on Channing Way
An opening date has not been announced, but construction on a new restaurant – Slim Chickens – continues at 6 Channing Way.
The restaurant is owned by the Davis Group. and the Jackson location is one of 10 scheduled to open in Tennessee.

Business Spotlight – Fight Shop classes now being held at Arrow Athletics on Bells Highway
NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM visited with Alissa Maness for a Question & Answer session to discuss The Fight Shop at Arrow Athletics which has relocated to 2715 Bells Highway.
Question: First, give us a little background on the Fight Shop at Arrow Athletics. How did the idea develop, when and where did it first open, and when did you make the move to Bells Highway?
Answer: The Fight Shop at Arrow Athletics opened in 2009 when Kim and Ned White opened up their barn to a small group of friends who wanted to fellowship and exercise together. It quickly outgrew the space and relocated to Bowling Drive.
In May 2021, Arrow Athletics acquired The Fight Shop and has been moved to Arrow’s second location at 2715 Bells Highway. This has been an exciting partnership as the same coaches and classes are available at a new location.

TAG Truck Center building new 90,000-square-foot facility in Jackson
TAG Truck Center received approval from the Jackson City Council to build a new 90,000-square-foot facility at the southwest quadrant of U.S. Highway 70 East, Interstate 40 and Ridgecrest Road Extended during a special called meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
The estimated cost of the building is $12 million.
TAG Truck Center parts, sales and service is located at 112 E.L. Morgan Drive.
Business Spotlight – Adelsberger Marketing adds coordinator and summer intern
Adelsberger Marketing has expanded their team again adding Roshni Patel as a Social Media Coordinator and Chloe Thomas as a Summer Intern.

Chloe Thomas is a Southern Illinois native who is a rising senior at Union University. She will graduate in May 2022 with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Her path to the arts was clear when her passion for creativity became too strong to ignore – finding that being in front of a computer or behind a camera is where she thrived and where she wanted to stay. Chloe joins the team to assist in video production and graphic design.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, new or existing homes for sale in Jackson in May stood at 65 – three are new construction.
New construction homes sold January 1 through May 31, was 39.
Average days on the market – January 1 through May 31, was 22.
The average sales price for a home year to date is $183,250.
