A proclamation recognized Women’s Health Week and a resolution to approve the Community Development’s Annual Action plan highlighted the Jackson City Council’s monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.

“This was a great meeting (Tuesday),” said Marda Wallace, District 8 Council member, “We started off with a proclamation for Women’s Health Week that is so important … aspects laid out about how women need to take care of themselves and this month is dedicated to that.

“Also, the Community Development’s Annual Action plan – fair housing – that was really critical to go through those numbers to make sure we’re allocating enough for that to make sure we are taking care of the population that needs that in the fair housing market.”

The consideration of a proposed budget amendment – $13,469 for an EMA Tornado Warning Siren gained unanimous approval by the seven council members present at Tuesday’s meeting.

Ernest Brooks II and Harvey Buchanan were absent.

The Council also approved –
– The appointment of Rose Merriweather to replace Virginia Williamson on the Equalization Board.
– The reappointment of Vicki Lake to the Jackson Community Redevelopment Agency.
– The reappointment of Sammy West to the Jackson-Madison County Historic Zoning Commission.
– The reappointment of Mandy White to the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission.
