Yolanda Newsome, an employee for over six years at West Tennessee Healthcare who works as a Food Services Assistant, has been named WTH’s employee of the month for April.
Yolanda was presented with the award during the monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
Tim Adams, a vice-president of West Tennessee Healthcare made the presentation.
Brent Stanton is the director of Food Services.
Her coworkers say that she is absolutely wonderful, so compassionate, polite, helpful, and takes pride in her job.

Highlights from the March 2021 Labor Force Estimates:
The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee increased from 4.9 percent in February 2021 to 5.0 percent in March 2021.
During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States decreased from 6.2 percent to 6.0 percent.
The unemployment rate decreased in 5 counties, increased in 86 counties, and remained the same in 4 counties.
Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate at 3.3 percent.
Lake County had the highest unemployment rate at 8.9 percent.

BancorpSouth merging with Cadence Bank
The recently announced $6 billion all-stock merger of BancorpSouth and Cadence Bank will create the fifth-largest bank headquartered in its combined nine-state footprint.
BancorpSouth has five locations in Jackson.
Operating throughout the Southeast, including in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Texas, the merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The combined company will operate as Cadence Bank with dual headquarters in Tupelo, Mississippi, and Houston, with operations centers in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as Tupelo.
Jackson Energy Authority – Board of Directors approve 3 resolutions during monthly meeting
Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors discussed financial results from March and approved three resolutions, during their monthly meeting.
“Two 60-foot bucket trucks were approved to be purchased in the 2022 fiscal year budget,” Monte Jones said, “Delivery on this equipment is anticipated to take over a year.”
Monte Jones is the chairman of the board at JEA.
“Iron pipe to be used for water system improvements on Old Pinson Road and Railroad Street was approved for purchase,” Jones said, “Equipment to be used for metal analysis in the waste water system was also approved.”
Jones said the board will begin receiving information related to next year’s budget at the May meeting.
