Participating in ongoing training, which is required by the State of Tennessee, the Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors concentrated on contracts and procurement procedures for the Authority during one segment of their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.
“Reports were presented on monthly fuel cost adjustments and purchase gas adjustments,” Monte Jones said, “There was some impact to customer bills from the colder weather in February, but increases were less than expected.”
Monte Jones is the chairman of the Board of Directors.
“The board received updates on a gas pre-pay project that will benefit gas ratepayers once finalized and an update on improvements to the Miller Avenue wastewater treatment plant,” Jones said.
Resolutions were approved for:
- Purchase of single-phase electrical transformers to be used for new residential subdivisions.
- Purchase of gas and water Encoder Receiver Transmitters (ERTs) that will be used to read meters electronically. “These meters will reduce manual labor hours required to read the meters and also can provide information to JEA that can assist in determining customer issues such as water leaks,” Jones said, “These meters can receive information continuously.”
- Purchase of a replacement work truck.
- Continuation of a direct bore contract with Jackson Boring for a final year of a three-year bid.
The board had a brief follow up on a special meeting with TVA that was held earlier in March. No new information was presented on the TVA contract.
