JACKSON Tenn (July 21, 2015) — Gunfire erupts on Hatton Street in midtown Jackson.
Around 8:40 p.m. Monday night Jackson police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of the Regional Inter-Faith Association. Â Officers were flagged down by a citizen who took officers to the scene of the shots fired.
According to witnesses, shots were fired toward a house in the 100 block of Hatton Street from a car sitting in an alleyway.
Police confirm that multiple shell casing were found at the scene. Â Lt. Gary Benton said, there did not appear to be any injured victims. Â The investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses at the scene said a man was filling a water bowl for a dog when someone started shooting from a car in an alley. Â Then, according to witnesses, someone came out of the house that was being shot at and fired back at the car.
Police said they recovered less than a dozen rounds but could not say how many different caliber casings were found.
This is the third shots fired call to this area since July 6.
