JACKSON, Tenn. — As it gets ready up for the upcoming school year Regional Inter-Faith Association’s Snack Backpack program got a boost from  a local church.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jackson donated $25,000 worth of food to the program,
RIFA officials said they serve hundreds of elementary students at schools across Jackson-Madison County.
The program is designed for students who are considered at risk of going hungry over the weekends. The RIFA Snack Backpack program provides children easy to prepare food.
Over 80% of the school age children in Jackson Madison County qualify for Free and Reduced meals.
