BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Union University women’s basketball team had two players and one coach earn Gulf South Conference All-Conference honors for the 2020-21 season. The awards were consistent with the east/west format used throughout this basketball season. Jaelencia Williams was named to the first team All-GSC West team, as well as west division Player of the Year. Shanique Lucas was named first team All-GSC West. Head Coach Mark Campbell was named the GSC West Division Coach of the Year.
Williams, a 6-foot-2 Center, averaged 16.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. In her career at Union, Williams has earned GSC Player of the Week twice, Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week once, Second Team All-GSC, GSC All-Tournament Team, Preseason All GSC, and GSC West Division Player of the Week twice. Williams has also passed the career milestone for 1,000 career points.
Lucas, a 5-foot-8 Guard, averaged 17.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. In her career at Union, Lucas has earned GSC Freshman of the Week five times, GSC West Player of the Week twice, and passed the career milestone for 500 career points.
Campbell, in his 22nd season as the head coach for the Lady Bulldogs, earns his fourth GSC Coach of the year honor since Union joined the conference in 2012-13. He led Union to its seventh GSC Regular Season title and the 34th regular season title in program history.
