JACKSON, TN – University School of Jackson held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new tennis complex, Monday.
According to a press release from Pam Stanfield, USJ’s Director of Marketing and Communications, the Board of Trustees approved funding for the next scheduled project as part of the Campus Master Plan.
“We feel fortunate that even through this pandemic, our programs have remained strong, including the financial support provided to USJ by our generous community,” said James Kirkland, USJ Board member, “We are excited to take the next step in our Campus Master Plan.
“This project will also open up space for the next phase of parking improvements to our sports complex.”
The future courts will be located near the old Lower School elementary playground site, which is south of Carlock Stadium.
The project will include an expansion in the number of tennis courts from six to eight, in addition to the new location. The courts’ old site will provide for much-needed additional parking spaces in the future to reduce stress during the spring sports season.
The existing tennis courts are located behind the Middle and Upper School building and adjacent to the soccer field.
