MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. (July 6, 2015) — Organizers estimate thousands attended the Fire Fighters Freedom Festival hosted by the Madison County Fire Department Saturday night.  The crowd celebrated by watching live music and a spectacular fireworks show.
Despite the threat of rain, families from all over West Tennessee came out by the thousands to enjoy the festival at McKellar Sipes Regional Airport.
Organizers say the event was all the success they had hoped for. “We just wanted to put on a family event for the people to come out and have a good time”, said Madison County Fire Department, Captain Don Friddle.
Rain couldn’t stop the fireworks or the music. Paul Cummings, singer, songwriter, and firefighter took time off his American Firehouse Tour to come to West Tennessee and help celebrate the country’s birthday.
Cummings performed his hit Firefighter’s Song, especially for the family of Chris Blankenship. Blankenship lost his life in the line of duty with the
Madison County Fire Department.
