The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 56-year-old male died Dec. 21 due to complications from COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 133 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 92 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 8,001 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 6,259 have recovered.

The newest confirmed cases range from ages 6 to 85.

Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Seven of those patients are on a ventilator.
