Lee Ann Womack in Jackson to Fund Jackson Christian Scholarships

JACKSON Tenn (June 24, 2015) – Jackson Christian School will host its third annual scholarship fundraiser with Grammy-award winning country music singer and songwriter Lee Ann Womack Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 7 p.m.

Womack is best known for her 2000 release “I Hope You Dance,” which earned a Grammy for Best Country Song and Song of the Year. In addition, she has placed more than 20 hits on the Billboard Country Top 40 and sold more than five million records in the United States. A Texas native, Womack studied music business at Belmont University in Nashville and has lived there since 1990.

She released her debut album in 1997, which produced the hits “Never Again, Again” and “The Fool.” This year Womack received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album for “The Way I’m Livin.’” The album is her first studio recording since 2008 and was recorded almost completely live. Her latest recording includes an inspirational song titled, “Same Kind of Different.”

Womack is the third country music artist to perform for the Jackson Christian fundraiser. In 2013, Pam Tillis, the first female country entertainer to perform in a Broadway musical, performed during Jackson Christian’s inaugural fundraising event. Known for their country roots and hits, “No News,” “Come Crying to Me” and “Amazed,” Lonestar performed the following year.

Jackson Christian awards approximately $150,000 in need-based student scholarships annually. Last year, the scholarship event raised more than $110,000.

Jackson Christian Director of Elementary Linda Bradford has witnessed how the scholarships benefit families. “The Jackson Christian Scholarship Fund is not only about providing a quality education for children,” Bradford said. “It is also about providing an environment where Christ is seen. It is about a family working together to teach children to love God and to develop Christian leadership. We are preparing children for tomorrow and for eternity. The scholarship fund opens that door.”

Sponsorships for An Evening with Lee Ann Womack include event and program recognition, dinner and concert seating, passes for a private reception, photos/autographed items and priority parking, depending upon level.
