JACKSON Tenn (June 23, 2015)– A woman accused of assaulting officer had her first appearance in city court. Patricia Martin faces numerous charges.
Police received a call about a woman causing a disturbance outside a Vann Drive business. Officers confronted Martin out front of the building in the 900 block of Vann Drive, according to an affidavit.
According to the officer when he approached Martin she was irate and, according to the affidavit, Martin walked toward the officer with her hands in front of her as if she wanted to be handcuffed.
Court documents say the officer tried to talk to Martin when she became aggressive and began yelling.
The officer said he tried to handcuff Martin but she raised her hand as if she was going to punch him.
The officer says he turned her around and that is when she kicked him several times, according to the affidavit.
Officers used a Taser subdue Martin before taking her into custody.
Patricia Martin is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Her bond is set at $5,000.
