Guthrie Named New Principal of Madison Academic High School

JACKSON Tenn (June 23, 2015, Jackson, TN) – Superintendent Names Principal of Madison Academic Magnet High School

Dr. Verna Ruffin, superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools, announced this afternoon that Chad Guthrie has been named as principal for Madison Academic Magnet High School.

Guthrie replaces Janice Epperson as principal at Madison after Epperson was appointed as Instructional Leadership Director for the district earlier this summer.

Guthrie has served as assistant principal at Madison since October of 2010. Guthrie has been with the district for 14 years. He began his career with JMCSS as a science teacher at Northeast Middle School and has also taught at North Parkway Middle and East Intermediate.

He also served three years as Elementary Supervisor and was assistant principal at Tigrett Middle School.

Guthrie earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Union University, his Master Degree in Instruction and Curriculum from Freed-Hardeman University and his Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Union University. While serving as assistant principal at Madison Academic, the school earned the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Award and was named a Reward School for three consecutive years.
