JACKSON, Tennessee – Owens-Corning, a longtime Partner in Education to Pope School, has made several generous donations to the K-6 school in northwest Madison County. The insulation and fiberglass company’s most recent donation of $5,000 on Thursday is among the largest gifts ever received by the school.
“We were simply astounded,” said Pope School principal Tracy Vowell.
The funds are an effort by Owens-Corning to support local educators and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Backpacks with supplies for the entire student body and a number of dry erase whiteboards are just a few examples of the support Owens-Corning has provided to Pope School in recent years.
“You kids are our future. You’re coming to school in uncertain times and we want to do what we can to help you all,” said Harry Allen, an HR professional at Owens-Corning. Allen has been employed by Owens-Corning – and active in the Jackson community – for 20 years.
Pope School leaders will be able to purchase additional PPE and technology thanks to these funds.
“We’re just so very excited, blessed, and humbled by this donation,” Principal Vowell said.
Located at 1167 Lower Brownsville Road, Owens-Corning manufactures glass primarily for residential and commercial roofing products but also for specialty glass applications.
