JACKSON, Tenn. – Coach John Weeks added another talented player to his Bethel University Softball program Friday with the signing of Trinity Christian Academy’s Maria Murdaugh. Maria is the daughter of Emily Dinkins and Marc Murdaugh of Jackson, Tennessee and will major in Physical Therapy.
Maria has been a varsity member of the Lady Lion team for five years dating back to the eighth grade. She has played travel ball for nine seasons. She has been an all-district performer at TCA two different seasons.
Off the diamond, Maria is a member of the HOSA, Spanish Club, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, History and several other clubs. She excels in the classroom with a 3.94 GPA.
Maria feels her biggest strength is her versatility.
Coach Weeks commented, “Maria athleticism and versatility made her an exceptional choice for our university and this program. She has the ability to hit for power and average as well as play multiple positions on the field including catcher. Maria is a left handed hitter with deceptive speed and power. She is a great student and wonderful young lady. Her competitive nature and the fact she’s played multiple sports made her an easy selection. I had the opportunity to watch her play a lot and was sold pretty quickly. She will be a great addition to our program and this university.”
