MyRide West Tennessee – a volunteer senior transportation service providing transportation assistance for Senior Citizens age 60 and above – has provided 5,000 trips in Madison County in less than four years.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped, supported, been there for me, Glenda (Temple) and Angie (Scott) to lean on, helped with rides, filled in when we were in a bind, etc.,” said Keita Cole, Program Coordinator – SVTN, “We could not have done this without each of you and your help.

“This program is where it is today because of you – our AMAZING VOLUNTEERS. There are not enough words for me to express my thanks to you all for all you have done for this program in helping support it.

“I know there have been some trying time (COVID has not been fun) and I’m sure we will see more trying times – but you all are resilient and have just rolled with it and for that I am grateful.”

The Southwest Tennessee Development District program provides door-THROUGH-door transportation for doctor appointments, grocery shopping, beauty/barber shop appointments and other social gatherings.

It also provides assistance for seniors who are able to walk on their own or with assistance of a walker or cane.

There is a yearly membership fee of $25, which includes the first 3 rides. After that each trip is $2 per trip. MyRide West TN strives to meet the five A’s of Senior-Friendly Transportation: Availability, Accessibility, Acceptability, Affordability and Adaptability.

Volunteer drivers are the key feature of MyRide West Tennessee – and the reason for its sustainability.
