The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms an 82-year-old male died Sept. 5 due to complications from COVID-19. That brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 53 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 33 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 2,486 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 2001 recovered.

The newest confirmed cases include 16 males, 17 females, and range from ages 4 to 88.

Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty-one Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Three of those patients are on a ventilator.
