Victoria’s Secret officially closes store in Old Hickory Mall

Victoria’s Secret has closed its Old Hickory Mall location at 2021 North Highland Avenue.

Signage at the store said the retailer was ‘temporarily closed.’

Victoria’s Secret announced the company was closing 250 stores in shopping centers, malls and other locations in the U.S. and Canada, May 21.

Between March 1 and July 10, 1,959 businesses in Tennessee have shut down in response to the pandemic — with 1,120 reporting their closures are permanent, according to data compiled by the business-rating site Yelp.

The Smoothie & Pretzel Company opening in Old Hickory Mall

The Smoothie & Pretzel Company is scheduled to open next week in the Old Hickory Mall, 2021 North Highland Avenue.

The counter service restaurant will occupy 800 square feet and seating will be available in the food court.

Hours for the business will be Mall hours – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m., Sundays.

Beer Board issues permit for Event Center in Hollywood Shopping Center

The Jackson Beer Board – Johnny Dodd, Russ McKelvey and Gary Pickens – approved one request for a business permit during their monthly meeting at the City Council Chambers, Tuesday.

Robert Lamont Ingram was approved for a permit to sell, store and serve beer for consumption on the premises where sold at Champs Event Center, a Social Event Center, in the Hollywood Shopping Center at 903 Hollywood Drive, Suite 11.

Business Spotlight – Kandy Newman joins Town & Country REALTORS

Town & Country REALTORS extends a warm welcome to their newest sales agent, Kandy Newman.

Tennessee’s preliminary, seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July 2020 was 9.5%. That is a 0.1 of a percentage point decrease from the previous month’s revised rate of 9.6%.

The latest jobless rate is 6.1 percentage points higher than it was a year ago in July 2019.
